l) It is the customer’s obligation to deliver their vehicle with the fuel tank on reserve; otherwise, it will be considered dangerous cargo and in violation of Brazilian and international laws. Our teams are prohibited from accepting vehicles to be transported in our box trucks or containers that have fuel above the reserve level. If we are forced to take the vehicle to a specialized workshop to remove the fuel, we will charge a fee of R$ 1,500.00. We are not responsible for any malfunction when restarting the vehicle at the time of delivery to its final destination.

(m) – Our quote does not include taxes, demurrage (container rental at the origin or destination of the move, as well as port storage). If the move is stored due to a lack of containers or ships/planes at the origin, there will be storage costs as well as shuttle costs if it is not possible to load the container at your home. If the sea/air freight Moves, an additional amount will be charged.
If your move is inspected abroad (this generally does not happen), there will be an inspection fee. If the shipping company delays sending your container (due to overbooking and other problems), there will be a container rental fee as well as a chassis rental fee.

n) Once the shipment is cleared by customs at the destination, delivery will be scheduled for the first available date according to our operations department’s schedule. The customer must be prepared to receive the shipment on the date indicated, unless they have previously contracted storage services.

We will make every effort to accommodate the customer’s preferred date; however, scheduling will always be subject to operational availability and may be subject to Move at the discretion of the responsible department.

If the customer is unable to receive the shipment on the indicated date, we will seek a new available date. However, additional costs, including storage, may apply from the date the shipment is available for delivery, unless there is a prior agreement or a formal courtesy granted.

(o) The preferred method of payment is by bank transfer. Our banks do not accept payments via Zelle or Venmo. Credit card payments are subject to an additional card usage fee. For international moves from abroad to Brazil, the first payment is made after the shipment is collected, and the remaining 50% must be paid when the cargo arrives at the port in Brazil, before delivery.

p) If the shipment remains in our Brazilian warehouse for more than 30 days, a storage fee and extended insurance will be charged. For more details,  CLICK HERE .

International relocation insurance can only be extended for 3 months at the origin and one month at the destination; after this period, a new insurance policy must be purchased. For pricing information, please speak to a Transworld representative.

q) Transworld and/or the insurance company are not responsible for malfunctions of any electronic item or object, unless the external damage was identified at the time of delivery, either by the team or by the customer.

Furthermore, the insurance company does not cover damage caused by pre-existing mold, nor pre-existing damage to mattresses and upholstered furniture in general.

TECHNICAL TERMS: Demurrage (or demurrage):  refers to a fee charged when the container is not returned within the agreed period (called “free time”) after unloading at the port. This period varies according to the shipping company’s policy and location, and is given so that the importer or agent has time to remove the cargo from the port terminal.

THC (Terminal Handling  Charge) is a fee charged by port terminals to cover the costs related to moving containers within the port facilities. This fee includes activities such as:

  • Moving containers from the ship to the terminal (or vice versa)
  • Internal transport within the terminal (to storage or shipping areas)
  • Use of loading and unloading equipment (such as cranes and forklifts)
  • Administrative processes involved in cargo handling.

The THC (Terminal Handling Charge) is paid to the terminal operator and is usually passed on to the importer or exporter through the shipping company or customs broker. This fee can vary depending on the port and the nature of the cargo.

In summary, THC covers the operational costs of moving containers at port terminals and is an important part of the logistics process in maritime transport.
